Patrick Donovan N.D.

I got my nursing degree in 1976 and worked as an RN at the Cleveland Clinic for 5 years. Then I very gladly left Ohio in 1981 to pursue my doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine...first to San Francisco where I met my ex-wife Janet of 23 years...then to Seattle where I finished my doctorate at Bastyr University and started my family. We moved to Philadelphia for a short time for my ex-wife's medical school and then back to Seattle for her residency. Janet and I were divorced in 2005 and now live across the street from each other. I was recently re-married to Taylor. We met in a hot tub on Orcas Island, WA six weeks after my divorce. It was "love at first sight" and we certainly saw a lot of each other! We were married this past fall (Sept. 7th, 2008) on my mother's and father's wedding anniversary to honor the death of my mother on July 3rd, 2008. Even though she had died, she was still there as the Maid of Honor.

I have had a private practice in Seattle as a primary care physician for over 25 years and have taught clinical medicine at Bastyr University. I have authored four books, two published in 2006: The Face of Consciousness and Dancing With The Beloved. The third, Forty Years of Sacred Space, published in 2013. The fourth, Relationships and Other Crimes of Passion, published 2018. I am now "semi-retired" working at my practice only 2 days a week. I spend most of my time living on Whidbey Island writing, puttering in my garden or in the wilderness watching and questioning life... often with a cup of tea or a glass of wine.
